Test an irrigation pump pressure switch by observing the pressure gauge as the pump cycles. The switch should turn on at the cut-in pressure and off at the cut-out pressure. Burned or pitted contact points inside the switch prevent proper operation. Turn off power open the switch cover and inspect contacts for discoloration. Use fine sandpaper to clean light corrosion. If contacts are severely damaged replace the entire switch matching the pressure settings of your system.
