Flush your toilet when water is off by pouring water directly into the bowl or tank. Pour at least one gallon quickly into the bowl for a gravity flush. Alternatively fill the tank with a bucket of water and flush normally using the handle. Store water in advance if you know water will be shut off. Each flush requires about 1.6 gallons. You can use pool water rainwater or any non-potable water source for emergency flushing.
