To empty a toilet bowl first turn off the water supply valve behind the toilet. Flush the toilet to remove most water from the tank and bowl. Use a plunger to push remaining bowl water down the drain. Absorb leftover water with a large sponge or old towels wringing into a bucket. You can also use a wet-dry vacuum to suction out remaining water. This process is necessary before removing or replacing the toilet.
