To relight a gas water heater turn the gas control knob to pilot and set temperature to lowest. Press and hold the pilot button while clicking the igniter repeatedly until the pilot flame appears. Continue holding the pilot button for 60 seconds then release. If the flame stays lit turn the knob to on and set your desired temperature. If the pilot won’t stay lit the thermocouple may need replacement. Always check for gas odors before relighting.
