Test home water pressure by attaching a pressure gauge to an outdoor hose bib or laundry faucet. Turn on the faucet fully and read the gauge. Normal residential pressure ranges from 40 to 80 PSI. Below 40 PSI indicates low pressure issues while above 80 PSI requires a pressure reducing valve to protect pipes and appliances. Test at different times of day since pressure varies with neighborhood demand. Contact your water utility if pressure is consistently abnormal.
