A toilet clogged with toilet paper usually clears with a standard plunger using firm steady thrusts. Create a tight seal over the drain opening and plunge 15 to 20 times. Hot water poured from waist height helps dissolve paper clogs. Add dish soap to lubricate the passage. For stubborn paper clogs use a toilet auger. Avoid chemical drain cleaners which can damage porcelain and pipes. Prevent future clogs by using less paper per flush and flushing midway.
