A leaking drain valve on your water heater can often be fixed by tightening the valve with a wrench. If it still leaks the valve washer may be worn and the valve needs replacement. Close the cold water supply and attach a hose to drain the tank below the valve level before replacing. Brass drain valves are more durable than plastic ones. Cap the valve with a hose cap as a temporary fix until replacement.
